FAREWELL TO MAURIZIO POLLINI, FIRST WINNER OF THE POZZOLI COMPETITION

 In Concorso Pozzoli

The great pianist Maurizio Pollini, who passed away on March 23, was closely linked to the Ettore Pozzoli Piano Competition.
It was 1959 when seventeen-year-old Pollini won his first international competition: it was the first edition of the Pozzoli Competition.
A circumstance that was good for both: Pollini took off from there, while the Pozzoli competition, thanks to the prestigious name in the roll of honor, grew by rewarding, in its subsequent 60 years of history, truly high-level performers.
The world of music today loses a great pianist who carried the flag of Italian culture high.
