JURY MEMBER – COMPOSITION 2019
Michael Zink was born in 1977 in Stuttgart. He studied Schulmusik, piano and theory at the college of music and philology at the university of Stuttgart.
From 2005–2012 he taught music theory at the colleges of music at Stuttgart and Trossingen and from 2009–2012 also at Frankfurt. Since 2012 he teaches at the college of music at Luzern and since 2013 also at the conservatorio di Lugano.
His research interests focus on the Italian treatises on counterpoint in the seventeenth century, which was also the topic of his doctoral thesis, the musical language of the second half of the eighteenth century and compositional techniques of the twentieth century.
