Regulation Elsa Pozzoli 2020

The 5th edition of the International Competition for Young Pianists “Tribute to Elsa Pozzoli” (formerly known as “Il Pozzolino”), organized by the City of Seregno (Italy) will take place from Wednesday 18th to Sunday 22nd November, 2020 at the L’Auditorium Piazza Risorgimento.

CATEGORIES
The Competition is open to pianists of both genders and any nationality who are born from 1st January, 2003.

Pianists can apply for the following Categories:

Competitors can apply for one category only. Competitors may apply for a superior age category if they believe themselves qualified to do so.

REGISTRATION

Registration is done online, on this website, by following the procedure indicated. The registration deadline is 12th October 2020.

Applications must contain the following documents:

  1. candidate’s copy of identification card;
  2. one current photo in front position, in high resolution, jpg extension;
  3. photo/video consent and release form and privacy notice form, both signed by a parent or a tutor;
  4. application fee payment receipt.

The registration will be valid only after the payment of the competition entry fee (net of bank charges) to be paid as follows:

The application fee is not refundable, unless the Organisation Committee decides to cancel the Competition stages of one or more Categories due to a lack of applicants or to any other reason.

  • The Artistic Committee will decide the admission of the candidates to the Competition.
  • After the payment of the registration fee, applicants will receive the music sheet of the corresponding Category repertoire compositions (see “Competition Repertoire”) without charges.

  • On Sunday 22nd November 2020 at 4.00 p.m., finalists will perform one or more pieces chosen in accordance with the Jury, among those performed in the First Round
  • It is not required to perform, the compulsory pieces of Ettore Pozzoli and the recommended pieces of the International Composition Contest “Ettore Pozzoli”, from memory.
  • The pieces order is at the competitors’ discretion.
  • Any changes in the programme beyond Monday 12th October 2020, will be accepted but will not appear in the Official Guide of the Competition.
  • Refrains can be performed at the competitors’ discretion, as long as the total duration of the programme does not exceed the time limit. If so, the Jury may propose to reduce the programme or stop the performance.

CATEGORY D C B – A A – B – C – D

  • The order of performance will be determined by draw and competitors will receive the final notification of acceptance within 10 days of the deadline.
  • Applicants are requested to appear at least one hour before the beginning of the corresponding Category Stage at the Competition Secretary with a document of identification.
  • Competitors who doesn’t perform during the final will be excluded from the competition.
  • The Jury reserves itself the right to change the order of performance at its own discretion.
  • Competitors will be assessed by an international Jury composed by 5 distinguished pianists. The Mayor of Seregno can attend the Jury deliberations.
  • The Secretary takes part in every phases of the Competition, including Jury deliberations.
  • The judges’ decision is final.
  • Any jury member who currently teaches to one or more competitors or has held master-classes in the last 2 years in which one or more competitors have taken part will abstain from voting for those competitors.
  • A maximum of 3 competitors will be admitted to the final round of each Category. The final round of all Categories will take place in Seregno at 4.00 pm on Sunday 22nd November 2020.
MEMORANDUM DATES AND DEADLINES
  • Saturday 2nd May 2020: Accreditation starts
  • Monday 12th October 2020: Application deadline
  • Thursday 19th and Friday 20th November 2020: Competition stages for Cat. D and C
  • Saturday 21st November 2020: Competition stages for Cat. B and A
  • Sunday 22nd November 2020 at 4.00 p.m: Final round of the 4 categories and declaration of the winners
ACCOMMODATION
  • All competitors may communicate the Secretariat the date and time of arrival in Seregno.
  • A supervising adult must accompany competitors for the duration of the Competition and for their stay in Seregno. Supervisors are fully responsible for competitors at all times.
  • Free accommodation with local families or, if necessary, in accommodation facilities is granted to the first 30 applicants and their supervisors, regardless of their categories.
OTHER REGULATION
  • For the entire stay in Seregno, at all candidates will be given free piano daily practice facilities.
  • All competition rounds are open to the public.
  • The City of Seregno reserves itself the right to record, produce and distribute all performances and to choose the appropriate time and means to do so.
  • The application must be co-signed by a parent or a guardian that authorises the use of personal data, the recording, production and distribution of audiovisual material.
  • The organizers declines all liability for any damage to persons or property occurring during the Competition.
  • The Organizing Committee of the Competition has the right to make any changes at all times.
  • By submitting the application, the applicant agrees to all Rules and Regulations of the Competition.
