About us

The piano competition “Ettore Pozzoli” is a worldwide famous event, with a deep-rooted tradition. Founded in 1959 by Gina Gambini, Ettore’s widow, the competition takes place once every two years to pay a tribute to the great teacher and composer (Seregno, 1873 – 1957) and is open to candidates of both genders and any nationality.
The prestigious Teatro San Rocco in Seregno hosts the demanding candidates screening and the prize-giving ceremony. Important names of the music sceneare included both in the historical jurors record and in the winners record. Outstanding among these is the name of Maestro Maurizio Pollini, who won the much coveted first prize of the competition’s first edition.

2011, it is the year of Pozzoli.

Welcome to Seregno, the hometown of Ettore Pozzoli, the great composer and teacher whose piano etudes are still considered to be the “musical score” par excellence and are used by young students all over the world.

The 2011 edition has been updated, both in the notification, which shows consistent changes in the competition stages, and in the setting that will host the many fringe events of the week. This will be a young edition, speaking to young people to involve them in taking part to a multicultural and multidisciplinary project. From classical to modern music, from the piano to the latest digital technologies, from the strict competition stages to concerts and many fringe events: all this is Pozzoli,  an International Piano Competition that will amaze and excite people of all generations.
